Welcoming Autumn with La Castanyada

The la Castanyada celebration was marked by making panellets in the school dining hall and taking part in various activities related to this traditional festival

Yesterday, the Primary School students celebrated la Castanyada, a day full of activities, from making their own panellets to taking part in different activities related to this traditional festival, organised by their classmates. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to discover the autumn traditions up close.

The morning got off to a fun start in the school dining hall. From first thing in the morning, the students got their hands dirty shaping the panellets and decorating them with pine nuts, chocolate sprinkles and other ingredients. Afterwards, they decorated the boxes in which they placed their panellets, ready to take them home and enjoy them with their families.

The la Castanyada celebrations continued in the afternoon, when the upper primary students organised activities for the younger children at the school. These activities allowed everyone to learn even more about the traditions surrounding this festival. Once all the students had taken part in the different activities, they gathered in the playground with their teachers to eat roasted chestnuts and some of the panellets they had made that morning.

To round off this very special day, families were invited to come to the school in the afternoon to share the moment with their children, enjoying an afternoon snack, laughing and having fun together while celebrating this wonderful tradition.
