The dual diploma is the official programme for the international validation of school-leaving qualifications created and developed by Academica Corporation, which offers the possibility of obtaining two qualifications at the same time: the high school diploma in the country of origin, in person, and the American High School Diploma, online.
Once a student is accepted into the programme, he or she is considered a student in the American educational system. We must take into account that the excellence of Academica Corporation's dual diploma allows 75% of the credits required to obtain the American High School Diploma to be validated. Therefore, students who take this programme receive the same qualification as students in the USA.
Obviously, students wishing to take the dual diploma must have a good academic record and a consolidated English language competence level of B1, because the programme requires between three and five hours of work per week, depending on the initial level of English.
At Xaloc, the programme runs from the second year of ESO to the first year of baccalaureate and, if so desired, it is compatible with the International Baccalaureate, provided that the student reaches the first year of baccalaureate with only one subject to take out of the six subjects on the programme, four compulsory and two optional.
The dual diploma is an interdisciplinary programme with three main characteristics:
- Educational immersion. It is conducted 100% in English.
- Technological training. It is developed 100% online, which involves the intensive use of digital platforms and tools.
- Development of the student's responsibility, maturity and organisation.
Given that the programme is developed entirely online, students who wish to follow it must have a computer with an Internet connection. A headset with a microphone is also recommended.
