Who we are
Xaloc is an educational institution located in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona), promoted by families with the aim of offering a well-rounded, rigorous, and personalized education. It is part of a broad educational project that supports students throughout all stages of their academic journey.
The project includes Early Childhood Education through Avantis (ages 0–6), Primary Education, Secondary Education, and Baccalaureate (Xaloc and Pineda), as well as Vocational Training through Xaloc FP. In this way, the educational project as a whole covers all academic stages.
Avantis is the Early Childhood Education center (ages 0–6) attached to the project. It is a coeducational school that supports children’s early years with attentive and family-oriented care. From I3 to I5 it is state-subsidized and offers an educational approach focused on children’s holistic development.
Xaloc and Pineda are single-sex private schools (non state-subsidized) offering Primary, Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO), and Baccalaureate, with a clear focus on academic excellence and personalized guidance for each student. The school places the individual at the center of the educational process, maintaining close relationships with families and providing an education that integrates academic, human, and values-based development.
The single-sex education model aims to more precisely address each student’s developmental pace, interests, and potential. This approach creates an adapted learning environment that fosters participation, leadership, confidence, and both academic and personal growth, in alignment with the shared educational project.
Finally, Xaloc Formació Professional offers a wide range of state-subsidized Intermediate and Advanced Vocational Training Programs, delivered in a blended format, with a strong focus on employability and close ties to the local business community. It currently operates across two campuses: Campus LH, with a more technological and industrial orientation, and Campus Badalona, more specialized in the healthcare field. Two training environments adapted to different professional profiles, with one shared goal: preparing talent for the future.
Since its beginnings, the educational project promoted by Xaloc has been open to everyone. Our purpose is to provide families with access to high-quality, rigorous, and close-knit education that encourages each student to give their very best.
History
On 5 October 1964, classes began with around fifty students and a small group of teachers, driven by a pioneering spirit. Xaloc was founded in L’Hospitalet to address the schooling challenges of Barcelona’s industrial belt at a time marked by significant internal migration from across Spain.
Over the years, the school has grown and established itself as a leading educational institution in the Barcelonès and Baix Llobregat areas, maintaining a long-standing commitment to academic quality and, in particular, to Vocational Training.
Thanks to the collective effort of families, teachers, and administrative staff, thousands of families have entrusted Xaloc, Pineda, and Avantis with the education of their children. The founding aspiration to contribute to the social and cultural development of the surrounding community has become a vibrant and enduring reality.
Christian inspiration
The spirit that inspires Xaloc promotes Christian values among families, teachers, staff, and students, in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church and with deep respect for freedom of conscience.
The Prelature of Opus Dei —an institution of the Catholic Church— is responsible for the school’s Christian formation activities, helping to ensure an educational project that harmoniously integrates academic formation, personal development, and a transcendent vision of life.
