Programa Diploma (IB)

A DIFFERENT AND INTENSE WAY OF LEARNING

The IB Curriculum works six areas of knowledge, which are organized around a core constituted by the mandatory requirements to obtain Diploma IB.

THE CORE

A. Theory of knowledge

The students have to reflect on the way thanks to which they have come to know what they know, obtaining in this way a critical capacity applicable to any subject.

B. Creativity, action and service

The objective of the IB is the integral formation of the person. This includes developing humanitarian feelings and citizen responsibility that are reached when students look beyond themselves.

A. Monograph

The candidates for the Diploma must carry out an original research and write a work of about 4000 words.


THE SIX AREAS

FIRST LANGUAGE
The IB allows to study more than 80 different languages, generically called A1 languages. The objectives are that the student uses, both orally and in writing, their language and generate interest in literature in the student.

SECOND LANGUAGE

The English B (high level) language course offers students who already have a certain base, to deepen the knowledge of the language through a communicative orientation. The objective is that students understand what they listen to and can speak, read and write the language through the studied texts.

INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES: THE HUMANITIES

All IB students must follow Philosophy’s subject, with the study of the work of the most important thinkers of all time. Students who opt for Humanities will study the History of Europe with the study of the fundamental events that have marked the life of our continent.

THE EXPERIMENTAL SCIENCES

The aim is to develop the skills that are required to carry out work in the laboratory and group learning through interdisciplinary projects. The students of Xaloc, depending on their orientation, can study the following subjects in this group: Physics, Chemistry and Environmental Systems.

 

MATHEMATICS

The aim of all the courses is to develop the understanding of mathematics and promote the confidence and ease in the use of the language of mathematics. The students who have chosen any scientific option and the students of Humanities must take this subject.

OPTIONAL

The students of Humanities in this group study the History of Europe. The students of the Scientific-Technological modality must study Chemistry of medium level.
