While Spain’s educational results show a worrying trend, Xaloc continues to achieve academic results above the Catalan average.
The Spanish education system is currently facing a significant academic challenge. The latest results from the 2025 PISA report have once again highlighted the difficulties faced by Spanish students in key areas such as mathematics, reading and science. Spain has scored below the OECD average in all three areas and is among the lowest results in its historical series.
In this context, the strong results achieved by Xaloc students in the University Entrance Exams (PAU) are particularly significant. Once again, the school has achieved results above the Catalan average, confirming its track record of strong academic performance.
In the 2026 PAU, Xaloc students achieved an overall average score of 6.9, above the Catalan average of 6.4. The difference is particularly notable in Mathematics: Xaloc students achieved an average score of 6.4, while the Catalan average was 4.1, a difference of 2.3 points.
The results were also particularly strong in other subjects. In Chemistry, Xaloc achieved an average of 7.5 compared with 6.0 in Catalonia; in History, 7.4 compared with 6.4; and in Spanish Language, 7.8 compared with 6.9 in Catalonia. The highest score achieved at the school was 9.5 out of 10, and two students received the Generalitat’s PAU Distinction for achieving a score of 9 or higher in the general phase.
These figures allow Xaloc to be described as an oasis of strong academic results at a time when education faces significant challenges. Single-sex education, together with a culture of effort, personalised support, family involvement and the dedication of teachers, forms part of the school’s educational model.
Beyond the figures, the PAU results reflect the students’ sustained work throughout their entire Baccalaureate stage. Rigorous preparation, support from teachers and perseverance enable students to face examinations that represent an important challenge for thousands of students every year.
At a time when educational indicators call for attention and improvement, Xaloc’s results show that academic excellence remains possible when effort, high expectations and a shared educational project come together.
