2nd-year Diploma students engage in a discussion on perinatal loss and social taboos

This morning, 2nd-year Diploma Programme students attended the assembly hall to watch the documentary A Shooting Star (Un estel fugaç) directed by Ignasi Guerrero. Following the screening, a discussion with the director allowed students to ask questions and debate the main themes of the film.

The documentary tells Guerrero’s personal story after the death of his son Pep at four months. Through this experience, the film explores perinatal grief, parental isolation, and the social taboos surrounding the loss of a baby, including interviews with doctors, nurses, and other parents who faced similar situations.

During the talk, Guerrero emphasized the importance of openly discussing such losses and making grief visible, highlighting the need for support and understanding for affected families. The 2nd-year Diploma students participated actively, asking questions and sharing reflections on the documentary and its themes.
