Families had the opportunity to discover the projects developed by students as the culmination of the Middle Years Programme

Last Friday, the Personal Project Exhibition of the Middle Years Programme (MYP) was held, giving MYP 5 students the opportunity to present to their families the work they have developed over the past months. The exhibition represents the culmination of their journey through the MYP and provides students with an opportunity to share the results of a learning process based on inquiry, creativity, and independent work.

The Personal Project is an individual piece of work that allows students to explore an area of personal interest and develop a final product or outcome through a process of planning, research, and reflection. Through this project, students apply many of the skills they have developed throughout the MYP, including critical thinking, communication, organization, and the ability to overcome challenges.

The exhibition featured a wide variety of projects, reflecting the students’ interests and talents. Among the projects on display were a functional cannon capable of launching talcum powder or confetti, the restoration of a 1970s motorcycle that was successfully started again after more than thirty years out of use, and the cultivation of a tomato plant, documenting the entire process from planting to harvesting its first tomatoes.

These projects, together with many others related to technology, sports, art, sustainability, and engineering, allowed visitors to appreciate the students’ hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Families were able to explore the exhibition, speak with the students, and learn firsthand about the challenges they faced and the knowledge and skills they acquired throughout the process. The event highlighted the students’ ability to transform their interests and passions into meaningful projects, bringing to a close one of the most significant experiences of their Middle Years Programme journey.
